Fishing
Sunrise Adventure Charters leaves from Rye Harbor State Park .  One of New England's most picturesque harbors, the park is located halfway between Portsmouth and Hampton, New Hampshire on Rout 1A.  The park offers plenty of parking and only minutes from the dock to the open Atlantic.

Stripers and Blues:

We fish the mouth of the Hampton and Merrimack rivers and productive waters  of the Piscatuqua River and inshore along the rugged New Hampshire coast out to the Isle of Shoals.  Most striper and blues fishing is done with light 20 lb. test spinning tackle with live bait, if available, or fresh chunk bait.  At times we’ll troll large plugs for blues along the cost.  Current New Hampshire regulations permit only 1 striper over 28” to be kept and 10 blue fish per angler with no size regulation.

Bottom Fishing for Cod, Haddock, Cusk, Wolf Fish:

Bottom Fishing is done anywhere from 10-30 nautical miles offshore to the east edge of Jeffries Ledge.  Jeffries Ledge  is an under water mountain range that runs from just off Gloucester well into the Gulf of Maine.  During the spring  and fall seasons, Jeffries Ledge is known for huge cod and haddock, usually caught on Norwegian jigs and fresh cut bait.  Cusk, pollock and wolf fish (what some anglers and gourmet restaurants consider a real delight) can be caught all year.

During the summer months, the marine show really turns on.  Large numbers of marine mammals: whales, dolphins, Harbor Porpoises, Pilot Whales and huge Ocean Sunfish are often seen.

Fishing charters to Jeffries Ledge are at least 8 hours long.  We also offer a 12 hour  cod fishing marathon.  All tackle and bait is provided (Jigs not included) -feel free to use your own rod and tackle.  Please check out the Sunrise Rate and Information Page.
